Well, it's time for school districts to pass their budgets and since our wonderful governor seems to think education isn't important enough to fund, passing said budgets hasn't been an easy time. Fayette County districts are all looking at furloughs and/or tax increases to balance the budget. Let's check in and see how everyone's doing, shall we?
- Uniontown managed to pass theirs with no tax increase! Congrats! They didn't escape furloughs, though--they eliminated their in-school suspension program and the two staff members associated with it. They also cut sports and extracurriculars, which in this county are actually probably really helpful programs.
- Laurel Highlands is still looking at their options.
- Connellsville is turning to reserves.
- Albert Gallatin voted to raise taxes last week, and they basically have no other choice.
